Libraries in film and television

February 2nd, 2012 Posted by mcarrolo in Out there info | Post a Comment »

I found this interesting Youtube video that details Libraries in film (created by Greene County Public Library). It is a neat montage of  scenes filmed in library settings from popular films and television series, such as: Seinfeld, Sesame Street, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, The Golden Girls, No Man of Her Own, The Shawshank Redemption, Philadelphia Story, Philadelphia, Harry and the Hendersons, Party Girl, Ghostbusters just to name a few.

Bryangreenland (2012) Funny library montage, video,  accessed 30/1/2012 from  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_a7OTE2nLg

Did you notice that the all the clips showed the traditional format (a book that is ). So putting it out there that we do have books like any other library but we also have access to a wide variety of databases. All are available to use in the library (some of those databases are also accessible from home). Databases include the Australian Standards, TV News, WGSN (fashion), Greenfile, business Source Premier, Sustainability Reference Centre, Proquest just to name a few. So make use of our online information resources (as well as our physical collection). See our staff for further information or contact the library on 02 9217 3404

I am preparing for Christmas by buying presents family and friends, planning what to eat on Christmas Day and where I will go to celebrate this occasion. Spare a thought for those around you and I who are not as fortunate. Please donate a new toy or non perishable food item to the Ultimo TAFE Library Salvation Army Giving tree. • sewing a shoulder bag (made from flags)
  • crocheting Xmas decorations
  • Screenings of the award winning documentary film “Waste Not”
  • Exhibits
  • BBQ

This event was organised in collaboration with the Ultimo Environmental Team QUEST, the Ultimo Student Association and precinct neighbours UTS and the ABC. Below are a selection of images from the Big Swap 2011
