Watch Moving Image Material Online from australianscreen online

The National Film and Sound Archive’s australianscreen online is an interactive web-based resource that provides access to a wide variety of moving image material. It encompasses nearly 1400 Australian feature films, documentaries, advertisements and television programs from the last 110 years.

A diverse selection of titles from the National Archives, dating from the late 1930s to the 1990s, can be viewed on australianscreen online. This selection contains films about nuclear tests, banking and military operations.

You can search via title, type of film i.e. documentary or short film etc. as well as a timeline if you like. Or if thats not your style… then try searching via genre, indigenous content or by decade starting from the 1890′s. Of course this is only a snippet of what you can do with this database.

Check out the above links for specific types of media. You can find out about some amazing facts and view some never before seen footage of Australian media. Then take the Screen trivia quiz and see how much you know about Australian media.

We have at the library a multitude of texts and databases that would work hand in hand with the National Film and Sound Archive’s australianscreen database. It would work for fashion, music, advertising, history…. just  a few areas that we specialise in.
