IBSA is developing freely available support resources for every unit of competency in this qualification.

IBSA has now completed support resources for six units in the VGC qualification; four core and two elective units. The three remaining elective units support resources will be available shortly. (Note that the packaging rules for this qualification requires four core units and two elective units.) Also available is a Facilitator Guide for the delivery of the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult LLN Practice (TAE70111).

The National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) has endorsed version 2.0 of the Training and Education Training Package (TAE10).

The package includes the new Diploma of Vocational Education and Training which is significantly different, and not equivalent to the ‘old’ Diploma of Training and Assessment.

To help navigate the new package, professional workshops are being organised by Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) for early 2012.

This redevelopment is needed to ensure that the furnishing qualifications and units of competency:

• meet industry skill needs without undue fragmentation and duplication of skills
• comply with the latest Training Package policy and design requirements
• are internally consistent
• take full account of development in complementary areas of skills application.

The findings of the report and the recommendation to proceed with the full review was fully supported by the MSA Board Furnishing Sub-Committee in June 2011, with the expectation that the review would commence following distribution of a discussion paper and project plan. However, since the committee’s decision, the project commencement was delayed while MSA discussed some aspects of the intended review with industry parties.

Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) has contracted Ability Associates Australia to undertake the review of the Project Management qualifications and units of competency within the Business Services Training Package. The qualifications include:
 
§  BSB41507 Certificate IV in Project Management
§  BSB51407 Diploma of Project Management
§  BSB60707 Advanced Diploma of Project Management.
 
A Discussion Paper will be available on the IBSA website in February 2012 with consultations taking place nationally from that date and continuing throughout the life of the project.  The review is scheduled for completion by 30 June 2012.

Launch invitation: TAE10 Sustainable Practice Skill Set, Teaching and Learning Resources – IBSA, Nov – Dec 2011

 The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) in partnership with the National Centre for Sustainability, Swinburne University of Technology and Innovation & Business Skills Australia (IBSA) are pleased to announce the launch of teaching and learning resources to underpin delivery of the new Diploma-level Sustainable Practice Skill Set from the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package.

The project to develop the Vocational Graduate Diploma of Engineering was initiated in response to a request from the Manufacturing and Engineering Skills Advisory Board of Victoria for a Training Package based qualification to replace the current State accredited Advanced Diploma of Engineering – Principal Technical Officer qualification.

The MEM40311 Certificate IV in Advanced Jewellery Manufacture has been specifically developed to be delivered to people who are existing jewellery tradespersons or delivered to apprentices in a jewellery-related trade who choose to study at a higher level during their apprenticeship.

This MEM05v6 Case for Endorsement includes the following additions to the Metal and Engineering Training Package:

1. Two (2) new qualifications:

• MEM40311 Certificate IV in Advanced Jewellery Manufacture
• MEM80111 Vocational Graduate Diploma of Engineering

1. Forty six (46) new units of competency and an additional thirty two (32) imported units.

After the completion of the State Training Authority evaluation period the following Training Packages have been submitted to the NSSC for consideration at its December meeting: MEM05v6 and MEA11.

In March this year, the Ministerial Council for Tertiary Education and Employment (MCTEE) made a decision to wind-up TVET Australia as an entity. While the policy capability of TVET will be transferred to the Commonwealth Department (DEEWR) by 30 September 2011, Training Products Australia (TPA) will be wound-up permanently by this date.
