IBSA has updated its popular range of Certificate IV e-Learning materials to support version 2.0 of the TAE10 Training and Education Training Package, and to reflect ongoing changes to the VET-scape.

The e-learning content, workbooks and assessment materials for all units have been updated, with changes including:

• new resources to meet the new ‘B’ versions of the assessment field units
• updated references related to NQC, TVET, AQF, NTIS and TP@Work
• updates to all URLs referenced.

IBSA also has a range of paper-based learning and assessment materials to support these TAE10 units.

 MSA has developed in-depth high level qualifications in sustainable operations and environmental monitoring and technology to help enterprises make their operations more sustainable and environmentally viable. The new Sustainability Training Package (MSS11) was endorsed by the National Quality Council on 12 May 2011.

Version 2 of MSS11 will include new Competitive Systems and Practices units and qualifications, which will replace the Competitive Manufacturing suite.

New and revised units of competency are being developed for PMA08 to ensure adequate coverage of the primary/upstream metalliferous processing sector.

The NQC has endorsed the proposed changes to the PMA08v2 Training Package, as outlined in the Case for Endorsement. These changes relate to the inclusion of six new units of competency as electives to:

PMA20108 Certificate II in Process Plant Operations

PMA30108 Certificate III in Process Plant Operations

PMA40108 Certificate IV in Process Plant Technology

In addition, all PMA08 qualifications have been adjusted to comply with the new flexibility requirements.

 IBSA is developing freely available support resources for every unit of competency in this qualification.

IBSA has now completed support resources for six units in the VGC qualification; four core and two elective units. The three remaining elective units support resources will be available shortly. (Note that the packaging rules for this qualification requires four core units and two elective units.) Also available is a Facilitator Guide for the delivery of the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Adult LLN Practice (TAE70111).

The Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has recently published clarification on the requirements for ASQA registered training organisations (RTOs) wanting to deliver elective units.

As a general rule, ASQA RTOs can offer/deliver units as electives within the packaging rules of a qualification on their scope of registration even if the units are not drawn from a qualification. The RTO is registered to provide, and not drawn from the training package that hosts the qualification into which the unit is being drawn as an elective —without notifying or formally applying to ASQA.

Service Skills Australia has developed a series of Training Package User Guides to help registered training organisations (RTOs) effectively implement our training packages, and deliver training that meets industry’s needs.

This is a free resource for RTOs which aims to improve the quality of training and assessment.

Industry believes in quality training and assessment, and these resources will help achieve that.

The Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package (CPC08) was endorsed by the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) on 26 October 2011, and published on Training.gov.au on 29 November 2011.

The Financial Services Training Package Version 2 (FNS10) was endorsed by the National Skills Standards Council (NSSC) on 8 July 2011, and published on Training.gov.au on 24 November 2011.

Some changes include:

• FNS30710 Certificate III in Life Insurance – Qualification removed as not required. Elective units added to Certificate III in Financial Services as a more appropriate entry level qualification.
• FNS51811 – Diploma of Financial Services and FNS41811 – Certificate IV in Financial Services – new qualifications.
