WELL (Workplace English Language and Literacy) Resource Program
TLISC is developing a WELL resource that will specifically target indigenous, return-to-work, remote and regional workers and will be tailored to three industry sectors – road, rail, and warehousing and logistics.
The WELL Resource will be designed to provide common foundation skills to support improving LLN (language, literacy and numeracy) skills for the workplace and/or uptake of a qualification.
It will be aligned with a selection of the units of competency from six TLI10 Training Packages – Certificates II and III in Driving Operations, International Freight Forwarding, Rail Infrastructure, Warehousing, Logistics and Rail Driving.
Outcomes:
- Assist workers and pre-employment Indigenous Employment Program (IEP) participants to improve their workplace LLN skills in order to help meet their employment and trainingneeds.
- Provide a WELL Resource aligned across industry sectors that will facilitate ongoing and cost-effective workplace LLN training.
- The WELL Resource will comprise a self-paced learning/assessment workbook and a trainer/mentor resource book designed to support training for vocational qualifications.
Anticipated project completion date is September 2012.
