The new Certificate III in Engineering – TCF Mechanic (LMT31909) has been signed off by state and territory education and training ministers for inclusion in the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Training Package (LMT07v2). It should be available on the National Training Information Service during the week of 27 July 2009.

The draft qualification was signed off by all major stakeholders in January 2009 on the understanding it would be placed in the Manufacturing Training Package (MSA07).

However, since then, continued discussions with the Textile Clothing and Footwear Union of Australia and the Council of Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia Limited have resulted in an agreement to place the certificate in the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Training Package, to ensure identification and relevance for that sector.

This is an interim arrangement, pending the availability of increased functionality when www.training.gov.au becomes available as the national repository for training packages in place of the National Training Information Service.
