NQC approved changes to Training Package Development Handbook
July 28th, 2009 by swilson in Resources, Training

On 25 June 2009 the National Quality Council (NQC) approved changes to NQC policy in the Training Package Development Handbook (TPDH).
The changes are to apply prospectively, but should also be applied to developments that are ‘in the pipeline’ where practicable.
The TPDH has been updated to reflect the NQC’s decisions in the following areas:
- entry requirements
- pre-requisite units of competency
- categories of change for units of competency and qualifications
- continuous improvement and endorsement
- assessment guidelines
- co-requisite units of competency.
The NQC policy on the review date of training packages in the National Quality Council Policy for the Training Package Development and Endorsement Process 2008 is now also reflected in the TPDH. For more information on the review date policy visit www.tpdh.deewr.gov.au/training_packages/Training_package_policy.htm#Review_Date
All of the changes are clearly identified in the TPDH ‘Version modification table’. To access the table visit www.tpdh.deewr.gov.au/site_information/version_modification_table.htm
To assist industry skills councils, developers and other stakeholders to consistently apply NQC training package policy, guidance material has been updated. Updates have also been made to the Units of Competency Guidelines and Qualifications Framework Guidelines documents to reflect changes in NQC policy and also to provide additional guidance in the following areas:
Units of Competency Guidelines
• coding and titling of units of competency
• contextualisation of units of competency
• Evidence Guide
• mapping of units of competency
Qualifications Framework Guidelines
• advice on training package pathways
• coding and titling for qualifications
• pre-requisite units of competency
• Skill Sets.
