Educational issues are in the news. Last Wednesday in the Sydney Morning Herald it was reported that “federal and state bureaucrats are pushing to privatise all occupational training in Australia”. The document, prepared for the Council of Australian Governments, also proposes that students who attend TAFE or private vocational colleges pay significantly more to complete courses.

And on the weekend, influential media tycoon Rupert Murdoch claimed that Australia has “a 21st century economy with a 19th century education system” and called for a major overhaul of education.

On a more local and immediate level, the NSW government is moving to slash the school travel subsidy and scrap the annual $50 back to school allowance as part of a series of spending cuts.

St George College Library provides a free inter-library loan service for currently enrolled St George students and staff. Course related materials can be sourced from other Tafe libraries outside of Sydney Institute.

An inter-library loan takes approximately 5-7 working days to arrive at the library. You can find resources you are seeking by searching the Tafe catalogue (TAFECat), or ask at the circulation desk to organise the items you require. You can have up to two inter-library loans at a time with one renewal on each item. If you wish to renew this must be done before the due date.
