On Wednesday 23rd May at 11am, thousands of children at over 1100 locations across Australia participated in National Simultaneous Story time. This is an ALIA initiative to help promote reading and literacy by sharing an Australian tale during Library Week. This year’s story is The very cranky bear by Nick Bland, and St George College Library presented the story to the children from Kameruka Cottage Childcare Centre at the very same time as thousands of other libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This year the children came for a library visit to have the story read to them, and went on a bear hunt amid much excitement and fun.
The children from Kameruka have made some beautiful artwork based on the story that is on display in the library so come and have a look.
Thank you to the children, parents and staff at Kameruka who came and made National Simultaneous Story time a successful and enjoyable event.
