One of the many services available to students who are enrolled at a TAFENSW college is membership of the Student Association. Some people might be aware of student unions at University and in some ways the Student Association is similar – however it is not compulsory to join and both staff and students of TAFENSW are able to join. Currently membership costs $20 a year and once you join at the college that you are enrolled in you are actually a member of the Student Association right across the state. The St George College Student Association provides a wide range of services and facilities across campus including (but not limited to): a job placement service, kitchen facilities, stationary and phone cards, college entertainment events and much, much more.
At St George College the library and Student Association work closely together to increase the sense of college community. The association provides discounts for their members to photocopying and printing facilities housed in the library as well as providing recreational and music CDs for library patrons to borrow. In turn the library supports the Association by joining in college events such as the Health Expo and College Services Day.
Find out more about the Association and the way the library works with them by listening to the podcast.
Can you think of other ways that the library and Association can support each other?
