Pre-employment Program Success – Petersham College

October 20th, 2010 Posted by traceyrose in Commercial Courses, Course Information, Courses | Post a Comment »

Sydney Institute of TAFE (Petersham College) and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia joined forces to introduce a Pre-employment Program for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people earlier this year.

The program provided participants with training which was customised according to the exact requirements in the phases of the Commonwealth Bank recruitment for customer service staff.

Program content was based on an awareness of the cultural and situational barriers facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants in demonstrating their existing foundation and communication skills in job interviews.  Also there was a strong focus on delivering customer service skills training that will support more confident participation in any subsequent CBA interviews and orientation training.

The program was delivered at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence full time for a period of three weeks.
