Late last month the New Media Consortium (NMC) and Open Universities Australia (OUA) released the annual 2015 NMC Technology Outlook for Australian Tertiary Education. The fourth edition of this Australia-focused regional report describes findings from the NMC Horizon Project, an ongoing research project designed to identify and describe emerging technologies likely to have an impact on teaching, learning, and creative inquiry.
The report identifies ten key trends, ten significant challenges, and twelve important developments in technology across three adoption horizons over the next five years, giving Australian university leaders, decision-makers, and practitioners a valuable guide for strategic technology planning. The report provides educators with in-depth insight into how the trends and challenges are accelerating and impeding the adoption of educational technology for tertiary education institutions in Australia.
Although focussed on the Higher Education sector there are are a number of VET representatives on the panel of experts and many of the technologies, trends and challenges are identical for both sectors. TAFE NSW is of course a higher education provider with increasing enrollments.
