Global Accessibility Awareness Day

May 21st is world Accessibility Awareness Day designed to encourage designers, developers, usability professionals, and everyone else to take an hour to experience first-hand the impact of digital accessibility (or lack there of).

Accessibility is important for educators delivering online content as it ensures our learners get the best possible experience.

Making documents, presentations and web content accessible to everyone doesn’t take much effort at all, and there’s a great benefit to everyone as it’s not just for people with impairments and disabilities.

Have a look at this great video by Andrew Downie, a project officer at TAFE NSW, demonstrating the importance of properly structuring content to make it accessible to people using assistive technology.
