WordPress 3.0 “Thelonious” released
June 23rd, 2010 by sridgway in blogging
WordPress released version 3.0 of it’s flagship blogging platform yesterday. This is the thirteenth major release of WordPress and the culmination of half a year of work by 218 contributors. WordPress is off course what we use here @ TAFE NSW – Sydney Institute for our blogging platform, although we use WordPress MU or multi user which allows many blogs to run under the one install. The good news is that the fork between WordPress single user and WP multi users has now converged into the one platform. This great news and a major feature upgrade to and already fabulous blogging platform.
Watch the video above and for and overview of the release and read the official blog post for more information. In this post there is also a great presentation by the founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg at the 2010 State of the Word speech at WordCamp San Francisco, discussing the origins and evolution of WordPress, the philosophy of WordPress and what they are planning for the future.
We update our platform once we are confident that it won’t break our install and any of our plugins. We will keep you posted on developments :>
