Awards ceremony for Murder under the Microscope 2009

Students from across Australia celebrated their success in Murder under the Microscope 2009 at the awards ceremony held at NSW State Parliament House. Winning teams received exciting prizes for their eco-sleuthing. More on Murder under the Microscope awards

Science Week
Science Week began on the 15th of August and to celebrate CLI has released Science Talk 2009. You can watch Australian scientists talk about their careers and how they came to choose science. For the first time Science Talk will be hosted on CLI’s video repository, Learncast. Go to Science Talk 2009.

 More Laptop wraps
The Centre for Learning Innovation has developed a series of Laptop wraps that are proving to be very popular with teachers and students as they begin to use laptops in their classrooms. Laptop wraps are topic-based resources and include online and offline activities that exploit the laptop tools and utilise the new suite of Adobe, Microsoft, and other educational software on the laptops. They are available for all KLAs, initially targeting stage 5 syllabus outcomes. Laptop wraps can be found on TaLe

Welding goes wild
Newly released this term is a question bank and quiz application building upon work by Vince Aranda, at SWSI. Containing over 700 questions, the bank randomly generates quizzes allowing students to self-assess their readiness to sit the AS1796 Welding Certification examination. The questions can be deployed to the desktop, to CD, online, or to the Moodle learning management system. More on Welding

Tools4U
Tools4U provide support for the new suite of Adobe, Microsoft, and other educational software. The Centre for Learning Innovation developed Tools4U that include online tutorials, examples of classroom use and step-by-step guides. If you are keen to create a digital portfolio then go to Tools4U Acrobat Pro for further details. Go to TaLe and search for Tools4U or through the Tools+ section of TaLe.

National Literacy and Numeracy Week 2009
CLI is currently producing ten video presentations for National Literacy and Numeracy Week. The resources, funded by the Commonwealth, are for parents and teachers of students in DET, CEC and AIS schools across NSW. More on NLNW
