2008 AFLF wrap up

December 18th, 2008 Posted by stacey in Uncategorized | Post a Comment »

Well, we’ve come to the end of the project for 2008.  Its been busy, constant and a big learning curve for us all on the team.  We’ve dealt with learning new software, communicating across the distances, developing and creating resources for the EFS students and their teachers.   But though the project officially finished, it has now provided a solid base for which we can further develop and modify the resources that can now be found on the St George library wiki.  Also have a look at the Gymea Campus library blog.

Thanks to everyone who helped make this project a success the teachers, students, library staff and all those extras who helped with the translations.  We hope you find it useful in learning about all aspects of the library and look forward to your feedback.

Why are we here?

This project is being jointly undertaken by St George College and Sutherland College, Gymea Campus. Both of these colleges are part of Sydney Institute, TAFENSW (SI). The project is being undertaken by library staff at both locations as well as one English for Further Study teacher from each location. Support staff are also being provided from St George College staff in the form of management support and a project facilitator.

The project brief is to create resources that allow for 24×7 access for staff and students. The resources are designed to provide information about libraries in general, the specific libraries involved in the project and the information literacy process. The project is made possible by the generous support of the Australian Flexible Learning Framework who supplied half of the funding and SI who supplied the other half of the funding in-kind.
